James FARICY [Parents] was born 23 Jan 1823 in Enniskean, County Cork, Ireland. He died 14 Nov 1916 in Scott County, MN. James married Bridget NYHAN on 14 Nov 1853 in Feeding Hills, MA.
James emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1848. He
settled in Feeding Hills, Mass., and worked in a cigar factory there for the next seven years. In 1853 his childhood sweetheart, Bridget
Nyhan, came to America, and they were married that year in Boston,
Mass. After their marriage they lived in Feeding Hills for about a
year and Bridget worked in the same factory as James. In 1854 their
first child. Mary Ann, was born to them.In 1855 James and Bridget, together with his brother Robert and
his wife, and his brother Patrick, travelled to Minnesota to
establish a homestead. They travelled by train to Galena, Ill., and then by boat on the Mississippi to St. Paul. They homesteaded the NW quarter of Section 9, Township 114, Range 21, Scott County, Minnesota. A patent dated April 1, 1961 was issued by the government to James Faricy granting him title to this land.James and Bridget had 12 children; two died in early childhood.
