James owned the home farm, W 1/2 Lot 23, Con 1 after his mother's death. In the early 1930's he set a brush pile on fire near the bush. This fire burned for many monthes due to the peat that was below the muck ground. It was estimated that it burned 3-4' deep. It burned much of the bush on this farm as well as half the bush on the farm to the north.
