Church BRAINERD [Parents] was born 8 Feb 1756 in Haddam Neck, Conn. He died 27 Aug 1832. Church married Abigail HALL on 16 Apr 1789.

He was an important person among the early settlers of
Farmington,

Me., and frequently filled positions of trust and
responsibility.  He

was an early pioneer of the Sandy River township; first settled
in

1783 on river lot no. 38, east side, and remained there until
about

1797, when he sold 38 and purchased 39.  He was the friend and
pioneer

of education, and took an active part in establishing Farmington

Academy, being one of the charter trustees and the first
treasurer of

the corporation. He was a petitioner to the General Assembly or
Senate

and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, in

General Court assembled, for a township of land for the benefit
of

Farmington Academy... He was chosen surveyor to oversee the

expenditures of a tax that had been levied for the improvement
of

roads.He was elected town treasurer in 1808, and town clerk in
1803,

where he served for eleven years... He was one of the tithing
men,

andone of a building committee for a meeting house,... known as
"The

First Meeting House Society," located in the center of
Farmington, Me.

He was elected Deacon oftheBaptist church in 1797.  He resided
in

Farmington, but moved in his old age to Stillwater, Me., and
lived

with his son Allen until his death

Abigail HALL [Parents] died 25 Jul 1826. She married Church BRAINERD on 16 Apr 1789.

They had the following children:

  F v Abigail BRAINERD was born 6 Jun 1801 in Farmington, Franklin County, Maine. She died 15 Sep 1830.
  M vi Allen Hall BRAINERD was born 13 Jun 1803 in Farmington, Franklin County, Maine.
  F vii Esther BRAINERD was born 11 Jul 1805 in Farmington, Franklin County, Maine.
  M viii James Allen BRAINERD was born 22 May 1807 in Farmington, Franklin County, Maine.

He went to New Orleans in about 1856-1857, and nothing more has
been

heard from him.

William Albion BRAINERD [Parents] was born 19 Jan 1826 in New Sharon, Maine. He died 17 Jun 1881 in New Orleans, LA. William married Roxanna Brooks WEEKES on 7 Apr 1847.

During the Civil War, William A. Brainerd was a 2d Lieutenant
and Captain of

Company E, 13th Regiment, Infantry; he mustered in on 10 Dec
1861.

William was promoted to Captain and served two years, six
months. He

went with General Benjamin Butler to Ship Island in 1862. Prior
to the

War, the couple lived in Farmington and later, during the period
her

husband was gone, Roxanna made her home in West Farmington.

After the war, William and his family moved to New Orleans, LA.
where

he died on 17 Jun 1881. When her husband passed away, Roxanna

moved to Denver, CO. She was active in the Woman's Christian
Temperance

Union and was the recording secretary. According to her
obituary,

she was a woman noted for her eminent Christian character, as
well

as zeal in temperance work and other social reforms. She was the
sister

of Warren Weekes of West Farmington, ME. She died in Denver.

Roxanna Brooks WEEKES [Parents] was born 22 Apr 1828 in New Sharon, Maine. She married William Albion BRAINERD on 7 Apr 1847.

James Allen BRAINERD [Parents] was born 10 Sep 1828 in New Sharon, Maine. He died 26 Jul 1915 in Town of Atlanta, Rusk Cty, WI and was buried in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Hezekiah Eric TOLMAN was born 27 Oct 1841 in New Sharon, Maine. He married Mary Evaline BRAINERD on 5 Oct 1864 in New Sharon, Maine.

Mary Evaline BRAINERD [Parents] was born 8 Feb 1843 in New Sharon, Maine. She married Hezekiah Eric TOLMAN on 5 Oct 1864 in New Sharon, Maine.

Benjamin BRAINERD [Parents] was born 10 Apr 1718 in Haddam Neck, Conn. He died 25 Jun 1782. Benjamin married Mary CHAPMAN on 19 Dec 1745.

Mary CHAPMAN [Parents] was born 9 Jan 1726 in East Haddam, Conn. She married Benjamin BRAINERD on 19 Dec 1745.

James BRAINERD Sgt. [Parents] was born 25 Mar 1696/1697 in Haddam, Conn. He died 2 Oct 1776. James married Hannah RISLEY on 23 Dec 1717.

James represented the town in the General assembly in 1735.

"This Assembly do establish and confirm Mr James Brainerd to be

Lieutenant of the company or trainband on the west side in the
said

town of Haddam and that he be commissioned accordingly."

Hannah was baptized 12 Apr 1695.

Hannah might have been named Anna, or Anner.

James BRAINERD [Parents] was born 2 Jun 1669 in Haddam, Conn. He died 10 Feb 1742/1743. James married Deborah DUDLEY on 1 Apr 1696.

He was a captain of home militia.  He was appointed one of a
committee

for surveying and laying out land, with his brothers Daniel and

Joshua.He was a deputy or representative in 1711, and was a
member of

the legislature from 1726 - 1737, nearly continuously.  He was
chosen

deacon of the Congregational Church.  He was a farmer.

Deborah DUDLEY [Parents] was born 11 Nov 1670 in Saybrook, Conn. She died 22 Jul 1709. Deborah married James BRAINERD on 1 Apr 1696.
