Church BRAINERD [Parents] was born 8 Feb 1756 in Haddam Neck, Conn. He died 27 Aug 1832. Church married Abigail HALL on 16 Apr 1789.
He was an important person among the early settlers of
Farmington,Me., and frequently filled positions of trust and
responsibility. Hewas an early pioneer of the Sandy River township; first settled
in1783 on river lot no. 38, east side, and remained there until
about1797, when he sold 38 and purchased 39. He was the friend and
pioneerof education, and took an active part in establishing Farmington
Academy, being one of the charter trustees and the first
treasurer ofthe corporation. He was a petitioner to the General Assembly or
Senateand House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, inGeneral Court assembled, for a township of land for the benefit
ofFarmington Academy... He was chosen surveyor to oversee the
expenditures of a tax that had been levied for the improvement
ofroads.He was elected town treasurer in 1808, and town clerk in
1803,where he served for eleven years... He was one of the tithing
men,andone of a building committee for a meeting house,... known as
"TheFirst Meeting House Society," located in the center of
Farmington, Me.He was elected Deacon oftheBaptist church in 1797. He resided
inFarmington, but moved in his old age to Stillwater, Me., and
livedwith his son Allen until his death

William Albion BRAINERD [Parents] was born 19 Jan 1826 in New Sharon, Maine. He died 17 Jun 1881 in New Orleans, LA. William married Roxanna Brooks WEEKES on 7 Apr 1847.
During the Civil War, William A. Brainerd was a 2d Lieutenant
and Captain ofCompany E, 13th Regiment, Infantry; he mustered in on 10 Dec
1861.William was promoted to Captain and served two years, six
months. Hewent with General Benjamin Butler to Ship Island in 1862. Prior
to theWar, the couple lived in Farmington and later, during the period
herhusband was gone, Roxanna made her home in West Farmington.
After the war, William and his family moved to New Orleans, LA.
wherehe died on 17 Jun 1881. When her husband passed away, Roxanna
moved to Denver, CO. She was active in the Woman's Christian
TemperanceUnion and was the recording secretary. According to her
obituary,she was a woman noted for her eminent Christian character, as
wellas zeal in temperance work and other social reforms. She was the
sisterof Warren Weekes of West Farmington, ME. She died in Denver.
Roxanna Brooks WEEKES [Parents] was born 22 Apr 1828 in New Sharon, Maine. She married William Albion BRAINERD on 7 Apr 1847.
